Printer Driver on MacOS
Printers have more features when you use the corresponding driver for the printer. This is helpful for the large Canon printers, as they have more finishing options available.
Printer Driver Links
Once you download the drivers, open the file. Select the icon of a cardboard box in the file. Then, follow the Installation Steps.
Check Your Current Printer Driver
- Go to System Settings
- Click Printers & Scanners
- Select the printer you wish to check
- You can see which driver you are using under "Driver version" at the bottom of the pop-up
- Apple's generic driver is a number with one decimal place (ex. 10.4)
- A printer-specific driver will have three octets (10.4.5)
- If you are using an older driver or the printer has changed models, you will need to re-add the printer using the steps below
Adding a Printer With the Correct Driver
- Add the printer using the steps under Adding a Printer and implement the following changes
- Under “Use” select “Select Software”
- Find correct printer driver and select
- Tree2 and Forest use the Canon imageForce C5160/C5170 PS driver
- Timber uses the Canon iR-ADV C3930 PS driver
- Willow uses the Xerox WorkCentre 6515, 5.19.2 Driver
- It is recommended by HP and Brother to use AirPrint
- Finish adding the printer normally
Printer Stapling
- Timber, Forest, and Tree 2 have the ability to staple as a finish when using the correct driver
- Set Staple Settings
- Select the printer in the Mac settings
- Go to “Options & Supplies” in printer
- Select the “Options” menu
- Pick “Staple Finisher” in “Output Options”
- When Printing
- Scroll to Finishing
- Click the “i” icon
- Turn on Staple
