System decommissioning

When you're ready to retire your server, laptop, or other device, techstaff is here to help. We support device decommissioning by securely wiping your device's storage and ensuring it's sustainability e-recycled.

Note: If devices were purchased under a grant, we will follow the appropriate policies related to the grant.

We'll securely wipe your retired device in one of two ways.

1. Secure formatting and erasure: We'll securely wipe and erase the data on your device's disks using industry standard data wiping technologies.
2. Hard drive destruction: If we can't wipe your disk, or you need a higher level or security, we'll use PSD's hard drive destroyer to destroy the device storage.

Techstaff will work with e-recyling vendors to ensure your devices are disposed of in a way that protects the environment and keeps devices from going to landfills. All data will be wiped before any devices are e-recycled
