====== System decommissioning ======


When you're ready to retire your server, laptop, or other device, techstaff is here to help. 
We support device decommissioning by securely wiping your device's storage and ensuring it's sustainability e-recycled.

Note: If devices were purchased under a grant, we will follow the appropriate policies related to the grant.

===== Disk wiping =====


We'll securely wipe your retired device in one of two ways.

  - Secure formatting and erasure: We'll securely wipe and erase the data on your device's disks using industry standard data wiping technologies.
  - Hard drive destruction: If we can't wipe your disk, or you need a higher level or security, we'll use PSD's hard drive destroyer to destroy the device storage.

===== E-recycling =====


Techstaff will work with e-recyling vendors to ensure your devices are disposed of in a way that protects the environment and keeps devices from going to landfills. All data will be wiped before any devices are e-recycled
